Anita Gelato

All good things start from a place of joy in the kitchen. Internationally-acclaimed and family owned gelateria Anita Gelato was founded in 1998, right in the heart of Mama Anita Avital’s Mediterranean kitchen. Her home quickly became a neighborhood gathering place to enjoy sweet treats in good company. With the help of her youngest son Nir, Anita began to craft homemade ice creams flavored with her signature freshly made jams. Soon, Nir began to sell these premium ice creams from a cart at a weekly local market, and a devoted customer base quickly ensued. The Avital family traded the cart business for their first gelato store in 2002, and have continued sharing their beloved frozen recipes internationally from Tel Aviv to London..

To date, each location serves over 150 rotating flavors of gelato, frozen yogurt, sorbet, and ice cream, all made-in-house using Mama Anita’s original recipes. Vegans and those with dietary restrictions are not to be left behind, as Anita Gelato offers tangy sorbets, soy-based ice creams, and sugar-free versions of hazelnut, coffee, and chocolate gelatos. They also offer low-fat frozen yogurts and more than 25 delicious toppings to add extra crunch and flavor to your scoop. Be sure to try one of Anita’s signature house-made jams–they are delicious!

Their most recent store is centrally situated in Times Square, New York City, offering 36 seasonally-rotating frozen treats daily. Each scoop is naturally crafted with the same integrity and soul Mama Anita embodied in her kitchen. Enticing flavor combinations like milk chocolate salted pretzel, crumble cheesecake with mixed berries, and macadamia cream are guaranteed to delight the senses. And, the store’s interior offers Instagrammable shots from every angle, calling upon classic 1950s style and timeless pink and green hues.
