Magic in the Air

Yulia Denisyuk is an award-winning travel photographer and writer who aims to capture moments of magic in her work. On a trip to Turkey’s Cappadocia region (which has since become a favorite of hers), she found that magic in the early mornings as hundreds of hot-air balloons rose into the skies. The whimsical peri bacalari (“fairy chimneys” in Turkish) dotted throughout the region add to the fairy-tale setting. These ancient rock formations once sheltered early Christians trying to escape persecution.
