Arlo Hotels, the independent lifestyle hotel brand with properties in New York, Chicago and Miami, is excited to announce the official launch of ART DC, the rooftop at the newly opened Arlo Washington DC. Located in the heart of downtown, ART DC is an indoor-outdoor bar and lounge with unparalleled views of the Capitol Building and the Washington Monument. Chef Pepe Moncayo is spearheading the menus, offering elevated Japanese-inspired cuisine specialty libations. The venue is one of the only hotels in the area with a rooftop pool, which will be activated seasonally.

Designed by Meyer Davis, ART DC combines luxurious finishes like Verde Alpi marble and Calacatta turquoise stones with bold, modern elements, creating a striking backdrop for socializing, dining and entertainment. As guests make their way from the pool to the inside, a jewel box-like vestibule with textured wallcoverings provides an element of surprise. The perfect setting for live entertainment and dancing, ART DC plans to feature year-round programming including day parties, mixers, art receptions, DJ programming and outdoor wellness activations.

The opening of ART DC aims to bring the D.C. community together in a space full of great energy where connections can be made,” said Cordell Nelson, general manager of Arlo Washington DC. “With Chef Moncayo’s dynamic menu, breathtaking city views and year-round activations, we plan to create a rooftop experience that’s anything but ordinary.

Guests can savor Japanese-inspired rolls, yakitori and other elevated dishes, all crafted with Chef Moncayo’s signature flair for incorporating vibrant, seasonal ingredients with a fresh twist. Menu highlights include Edamame Hummus ($11) with aromatic chili oil; fresh Oysters ($3 each) served with a wasabi-olive oil blend and a hint of ponzu; and Cold and Hot Soba Noodles ($10) paired with traditional flavors such as dashi and topped with crunchy tempura bits, cured egg yolk and tender wagyu.

For sushi lovers, ART DC offers a variety of fresh hand rolls, including Miso Salmon ($7), Tuna and Yuzu Kosho With Marinated Ikura ($9) and Inari Sushi ($5) featuring tofu skin pockets filled with seasoned sushi rice and topped with egg sheets or pickled shiitake. Yakitori selections include Tsukune Chicken ($4), Pork Belly($4) and Shiitake ($4).

ART DC also boasts a strong selection of Japanese-inspired handcrafted cocktails and mocktails. Cocktail highlights include IAD-HND ($18), with Oka rice vodka, espresso, toasted black sesame and miso; Ichigo Wa Stuaa ($18), infused with blanco tequila, kabosu, and strawberry foam; Kitsune’s Elixir ($16), with spiced rum, Junmai sake, pear and sake. Mocktail highlights include Forest Walker ($14), with matcha, cranberry and calpico, and Nashi To Shoga ($14), with fresh pear, ginger and apple cider. ART DC also offers a curated selection of local drafts, exclusive sake, and a wine list featuring standout options from sparkling rosé to full-bodied reds.

To kick off the opening of ART DC, on February 5, Arlo Hotels will host its signature Living Room Gallery series featuring artwork by Halim Flowers and Clarence James in honor of Black History Month. Created by Arlo Hotels art curator Jasmine Arakel, Arlo’s Living Room Gallery serves to bring contemporary art typically reserved for galleries and private collections to publicly accessible spaces at Arlo Hotels across New York, Miami, Chicago and, now, Washington, D.C. In partnership with DTR Modern Gallery, the event will feature an engaging panel with the artists and Avalon Ashley Bellos, Executive Director of Media Communications at DTR Modern, that will explore the intersection of art, advocacy, and the evolving narrative of Black artists in contemporary art. Happy hour specials will include $9 sake, $5 beers, and $8 wines. For more information on the event and to RSVP, please visit the Eventbrite link HERE.

ART DC will also host monthly social activations, including a DND Sunset Series day party, with its official kickoff on MLK weekend. Stay tuned for more details on this events and upcoming programming on artrooftops.com
