Gucci made waves at Fuorisalone 2025 in April with Bamboo Encounters, an immersive exhibition that reimagined one of the House’s most iconic design elements: bamboo. Set in the breathtaking Chiostri di San Simpliciano in Milan, the exhibit fused Gucci’s storied past with bold contemporary visions. Curated by architect Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli and his studio 2050+, it brought together a global roster of designers and artists who transformed bamboo in surprising and striking ways, from sculptural light installations to hybrid materials that blend tradition with innovation. Introduced in the 1940s as handbag handles, bamboo has become a lasting piece of Gucci’s creative legacy.
