An Artist’s Journey

Brendan Parker, a talented artist based in Miramar Beach, Florida, discovered his passion for creating and exploring creativity through various mediums and art forms at a young age. As a creative individual who enjoyed building structures with LEGO bricks and cardboard materials, Parker always sought new and exciting things to do and explore. Parker, a self-taught guitarist, displayed a strong interest and talent in the music industry before delving into other art forms, such as painting and sculpting.
Parker, originally from Georgia, relocated to Florida with his family and became familiar with Justin Gaffrey, a talented artist from Santa Rosa Beach who creates visually stunning pieces using different mediums and textures. Parker’s interest in art grew when he discovered one of Gaffrey’s pieces using gel medium. The textured effect of this particular piece inspired Parker to experiment with the same gel medium, introducing him to the diverse array of art mediums used in the industry.
Before his twenty-first birthday, Parker faced a significant setback—a severe burn to his hand. This injury, which initially hindered his ability to play the guitar, turned out to be a turning point in his artistic journey. It was during this time that Parker decided to experiment with the gel medium art supplies sitting dormant in his closet. This transition into experimenting with different mediums as an artist was a testament to his resilience. Forced to explore other creative outlets, Parker quickly found his passion in creating art pieces. With resin quickly becoming one of his favorites, Parker has produced many stunning pieces showcased locally throughout the 30-A region, featuring resin, epoxy, and many other mediums.
As an artist, you’ve got to evolve and do new things to get out of your box.
With eight bespoke works featured in the Alys Beach Selene Building and pieces showcased in the Lupine show home, Parker’s work is a testament to his passion for collaboration. He actively collaborates with the Alys Beach designer community to create and install breathtaking pieces into buildings and homes in the area. Together with other community designers, he also supplies pieces to residential clients in the area, enhancing the beauty of the neighborhood. Parker’s enjoyment of these collaborations is evident, and he was initially given the opportunity to work with Alys Beach by principal designer Emily Graham. This collaboration has been a great accomplishment for him, as he states that Alys Beach is one of his favorite areas to visit.
“It’s therapeutic in a way. For me and my process, I would say the ritual behind it is just getting into a flow state. A lot of my best creations come out when I’m feeling intense emotion, and most of the time, those are periods where I haven’t painted for a while, and the pressure builds up. It’s like I can finally release and blow off some of that steam.” – Brendan Parker
In addition to selling his artwork, Parker has created The Artrepreneurs Blueprint. This e-book brings together the lessons, strategies, and techniques he has learned throughout his career in the art industry. This compilation of topics and advice is designed to assist other creatives in achieving success, providing a fast-track course for thriving in the art industry more efficiently.
“My journey, initially fraught with financial struggles as a full-time artist, was a learning curve rife with a stubborn approach and business missteps. A significant shift in mindset, embracing abundance, and being guided by mentors has been transformative for me. As a successful artist with substantial sales, my goal with this book is to empower other artists. I aim to provide a direct path to artistic and financial success, sharing the lessons that have reshaped my career and life.”
Parker continues to promote his e-book and has announced that he is also working on an online course. This course aims to assist artists in finding success in the industry by offering tips, advice, inspiration, and resources for those seeking to advance in their art careers.
I tend to have this philosophy that not everything people teach is for everyone. It’s not a one-size-fits-all-all formula because people are different. I’ve always had that mindset.
As Parker continues to explore different mediums and take on new projects, he hopes to expand his artwork into other markets and have a greater impact on the world through his passion. He also aims to offer more exhibits and showcase his art on a larger scale while continuing to create for the beautiful homes and businesses of Northwest Florida.
