Make Me a Channel
by Lisa Burwell
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
—Proverbs 18:21
It is a great honor to publish this magazine and have the opportunity to share stories with each new issue. When penning my note, I usually say a quick prayer that I choose the right words and message, and that they are full of hope and love. The first thing that came to my mind was a hymn we used to sing in church when I was a teenager: “Make Me a Channel of Your Peace.” I loved to sing this song as it always made my heart rejoice and an overwhelming humility would wash over me.

Make Me a Channel of Your Peace
Make me a channel of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me bring your love.
Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord,
And where there’s doubt, true faith in you.
Make me a channel of your peace
Where there’s despair in life, let me bring hope
Where there is darkness, only light
And where there’s sadness, ever joy.
Make me a channel of your peace
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
In giving to all men that we receive
And in dying that we’re born to eternal life.
Oh Master, grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love with all my soul.
