As an American pop artist with a sizable Latin following, RJ Word is quickly rising to the top of full-fledged international stardom. Growing up in the heart of the entertainment industry in Los Angeles, RJ developed a passion for singing and songwriting at an early age. He kicked off his music career by the age of ten, performing on stage in musical theater productions. During this time, RJ began developing his sound with the help of top vocal coach Roger Love, the renowned coach of Michael Jackson, John Mayer, Demi Lovato, and Maroon 5, to name a few. RJ has honed his craft for over a decade as a singer, songwriter, and producer. Now, at twenty-one years old, his stage acts have advanced from musical theater to performing his hit singles to audiences by the thousands. RJ Word’s fanbase consists of over a million worldwide now, including 1.5M+ Instagram followers and 19.7M+ YouTube views.

With RJ’s versatile talent and massive global fanbase, headlining names in the music industry have been quick to take note and are eager to collaborate with him. Most recently, RJ featured alongside Pitbull and Rich The Kid on Juan Magan’s new Latin-pop single “Echa Pa’ Acá” (August 2018), with an accompanying animated music video. Upon release, the track soared across Spotify ‘New Music Friday’ playlists worldwide and the Apple Music charts. The music video amassed over 14M views on YouTube alone in the first two weeks following its release.

RJ’s international acclaim stems from his unique curated sound, with his goal to produce music that branches outside of the status quo. He’s released hit after hit, including “Here Today” which premiered on NBC Universo, “I’m Gone” which garnered high praise for RJ’s dance skills in the music video, and “Hold Tight” which topped charts in over fourteen countries. His international fanbase has led him to perform around the globe, including at 93Q Summer Jam 2018 in New York (alongside Rita Ora, ROZES, etc.), Navi Fest 2016 at Arena Monterrey, Mexico, EXA Festival in Puebla, Mexico, and House of Exile 2017 in NYC. Earlier last year, RJ released his original funk-inspired dance anthem “What You Need” with an accompanying music video, which was brought to life by live horns and carried by RJ’s lyrics and falsetto-laced melodies.

RJ released his latest original single “Love Hurts” just in time for last holiday season. The pop-funk heartbreak single provides an upbeat twist to the traditional, dark lovesick ballad. Within this timeless track, RJ manages to masterfully fuse exuberant old-school R&B/funk melodies with his emotive modern-day lyrics. The single expertly combines a booming choir, quick rap verse and the ever-enticing brass-backing of live horns. As is his signature seamless nature, RJ yet again refuses to succumb to a single genre with “Love Hurts.”

In addition to music, RJ puts his creative juices towards filmmaking, photography, and fashion. RJ attended the highly accredited performing arts high school LACHSA, where his studies focused on film and theater, leading him to become very hands-on not only when creating his music, but also his music videos when it comes to directing and editing. RJ also expresses his creative nature through his edgy street style, which led him to become the face of several fashion brands, most recently collaborating with Fashion Nova to promote the brand’s new men’s line.
