Fall 2013 Fashion Week Photo Diary: We Love NY

Happy Valentine’s Day!

The team is back from the Big Apple, sad that we are missing some of the last days of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, but excited about our upcoming photo shoot and dinner for the March/April Food & Fashion Issue! And no worries, we’ve still been checking all the amazing Fall 2013 collections from our favorite designers by watching MBFW’s Live Video Stream. Our time in New York went by quickly, but fashion never dies! (Even some trends from the 80s that probably really should just drop dead already.)

Anyway, without further ado, we hope you enjoy this little photo diary of our weekend in New York, New York!

Friday, February 8.

After breakfast at the Gramercy Terrace, we headed to Lincoln Center to get our press credentials and saw our first runway show, CZAR by Cesar Galindo. The cast of AMC’s new series, “Freakshow,” was seated across from us! Then it was on to explore the tents at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week as we waited for the Nautica Fall 2013 presentation. It was their first time showing at MBFW and they did not disappoint! Next, the huge crowd at Rebecca Minkoff’s show drew in the likes of Anna Wintour, Nicole Richie, and more celebs. A performance by Wild Cub during the show added even more oomph to the fantastic looks, and Monika Chiang’s presentation was stunning as models posed like mannequins in The Box at Lincoln Center. Can’t wait for fall!

Winter storm Nemo hit hard that night, but not so hard that we didn’t brave it for New York pizza and some shopping near Union Square!

Saturday, February 9.

Saturday started off with a walk around Midtown. We Southerners marveled at the foot of snow Nemo had dropped the night before, and also at how little it seemed to affect the city. It was sunny and a gorgeous day despite the biting cold winds. After a hike through Chelsea, we waited in the bitter cold outside Eye Beam Studios for Chrisitan Siriano’s Fall 2013 presentation, and it was well worth the wait! After the show, we snapped a pic with The Hunger Games‘ Isabelle Fuhrman and Shailene Woodley of “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.” They were so sweet and we loved their outfits!

Next up was Alexandre Herchcovitch’s show at the famed Milk Studios, followed by a chilly walk as we attempted to hail a taxi and finally found one. Venexiana’s runway show was breathtaking with over 70 gowns in velvet and satin, adorned with crystals and fine details that left us speechless. To round out the night, we took a stroll from Lincoln Center down to Times Square and had dinner and a show at Ellen’s Stardust Diner, home of the famous singing and dancing waitstaff (and possibly the most delicious brownie with ice cream ever)!

Sunday, February 10 & Monday, February 11.

Although our time in New York City was winding down, the fun was not! Sunday brought shopping at some of our favorites such as Tory Burch, Kate Spade, and Urban Outfitters, and strolling through the city streets as we began to feel like true New Yorkers. We were ecstatic to get tickets to Tennessee Williams’ “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” on Broadway, starring Scarlett Johansson as Maggie the Cat. The show was incredible, and was followed by dinner and a taxi up to the Upper East Side as we visited The Comic Strip Live comedy club for a few laughs before bedtime.

Mathieu Mirano’s presentation on Monday morning was fascinating, with geometric prints, black and gold ensembles, and some of the most fantastic boots stealing the show.

After lunch back at the Gramercy, it was time to head to the airport and return to Florida for our March/April cover shoot tomorrow. We were sad to go, but New York has not seen the last of us!
