Another Year of Musical Magic

Sinfonia Gulf Coast is proof that dreams do come true. It only takes a dreamer to start and ambition to build, or at least that was the secret recipe eleven years ago for the nonprofit orchestra when Music Director Demetrius Fuller and a dedicated board of directors decided to come together to create Sinfonia Gulf Coast.

Within its lifespan, the orchestra has crescendoed into success as it has continued to produce stellar performances and host world-renowned guest artists such as Morgan James, Kristin Chenoweth, and Roberta Flack, just to name a few. It’s no surprise that Sinfonia Gulf Coast has yet another wonderful year lined up as they enter their eleventh season, entitled RETROSPECTIVE.

Sinfonia Gulf Coast Affinity featuring Sharon Isbin

The main 2016–2017 season starts Thursday, October 6 with Silver Sands Premium Outlets’ “Classical Connections” series at Grace Lutheran Church in Destin, Florida. The performance will feature classical guitarist and multiple Grammy Award winner Sharon Isbin in the Southeast US premiere of Chris Brubeck’s Affinity: Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra. This will be a special performance as the music was written specifically for Isbin.

Guitarist Sharon Isbin Photo Sinfonia Gulf Coast Vie MagazineAlong with appearing as a soloist with more than 170 orchestras and giving sold-out performances in the world’s finest halls, Isbin has been director/soloist of festivals she created for Carnegie Hall and NPR. Her Grammys are just a small fraction of the many prestigious music awards she’s won including the Toronto, Madrid, and Munich Competitions, Germany’s Echo Klassik, and Guitar Player’s “Best Classical Guitarist” Award.

Other shows we’re eagerly waiting to see during the Sinfonia concert series are Vivaldi’s brilliant showpiece “Variociones concertantes,” and Mozart’s “Symphony no. 40 in G Minor K. 550.” These are performances you’re not going to want to miss if you’re in the area!

Tickets for the highly-anticipated series are just $45 for preferred seating and $29.50 for balcony, but why stop there, as Sinfonia Gulf Coast is known for overcoming standards and delivers the best performances out there. If you’re local or frequently visit Northwest Florida, consider purchasing a season ticket available for $165 per person. This includes preferred seating for all four main season concerts, including Affinity featuring Sharon Isbin, The Manhattan Transfer’s Swingin’ Holiday concert, Classical Connections featuring violinist Jennifer Koh, and “Bugs Bunny at Symphony II.”

As a season sponsor, VIE magazine is proud of how far Sinfonia Gulf Coast has come and what it has achieved. We love the initiative to bring music to the community and their mission to redefine the Symphony experience. We admire their efforts to inspire, entertain, and educate the community with their innovative musical programs and educational partnerships. We’re excited to attend this season of phenomenal shows and can’t wait to celebrate another fantastic year with Sinfonia!
