Free Concert to Be Held at Ocean Key Resort & Spa September 14, 2019

In wake of Hurricane Dorian’s devastating impact on the Bahamas, Ocean Key Resort & Spa – part of the Noble House Hotels & Resorts collection – today announced it will host a free benefit concert featuring country music singer Billy Currington on Saturday, September 14, at Sunset Pier, located at Zero Duval Street in Key West. The all-ages fundraiser will kick off at 6:00 p.m. with performances by local musicians, before Currington and his full band take the stage at 8:30 p.m.

“After seeing the impact Hurricane Dorian had on the Bahamas, I felt I had to do something. I watched the news describe total destruction in places I’ve come to know and love over the years – places where friends and brothers still live today,” said Billy Currington. “We shot our video for “People Are Crazy” on Green Turtle Cay a few years back, so as soon as Dorian passed by Georgia, I called up some friends in Key West and wanted to create an island-to-island connection to raise some money and awareness for the relief efforts.”

The idea for the concert was spawned after Currington experienced a near miss of Hurricane Dorian last week at his residence in Tybee Island, GA. Unfortunately, his friends and extended music family in the Bahamas – particularly, in his home away from in Green Turtle Cay – were not as fortunate.

With the show being last minute – and free – the fundraising efforts will rely solely on front gate donations, local sponsorships and volunteer staff. Food and drinks will be available at the Sunset Pier bar, with a portion of the sales donated to the relief efforts. All proceeds collected from the fundraiser will go to Key West Cares a local-based organization that will handle the disbursement of funds to the ravaged islands, specifically, in Key West’s sister city, Green Turtle Cay.
